How to Clean Reusable Ice Cubes

Cleaning NUGSAX® Is Easy
NUGSAX® reusable ice cubes are designed to go from your freezer to your cooler and back again. A simple hand wash helps remove spills, food residue, dirt and anything else they encounter along the way.
You can clean the reusable ice cubes while they remain inside the mesh bag, or remove them and wash them separately in a colander.
We recommend hand washing with mild dish soap and allowing the bag and cubes to air dry completely before returning them to the freezer.
Method 1 · Quick Clean
Clean NUGSAX® Inside the Bag
Keep the reusable ice cubes inside the mesh bag throughout the cleaning process.

Apply Mild Dish Soap
Apply a small amount of mild dish soap and gently work it through the mesh while moving the cubes inside the bag.

Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse the complete NUGSAX® with clean running water until the soap and visible residue are gone.

Air Dry Completely
Leave NUGSAX® upright in the colander and allow it to air dry completely before refreezing.
Method 2 · Thorough Clean
Remove and Rinse the Cubes
Remove the cubes when you want to wash and inspect them individually.

Empty the Cubes
Unzip NUGSAX® and carefully pour the reusable ice cubes into a clean colander.

Apply Mild Dish Soap
Apply a small amount of mild dish soap directly to the reusable ice cubes.

Gently Mix
Move the cubes around by hand so the soap reaches each surface and loosens residue.

Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse the cubes under clean running water until all soap and visible residue are gone.

Air Dry on a Towel
Spread the cubes across a clean towel and allow them to air dry completely before returning them to the bag.
Don’t Forget the Bag
While the cubes are drying, hand wash the empty NUGSAX® bag with mild dish soap and clean water. Rinse the mesh, seams, zipper and exterior thoroughly, then allow the bag to air dry completely.
After Cleaning
Dry It Before You Freeze It
Proper drying helps keep your NUGSAX® fresh and ready for repeated use.
Air Dry Completely
Allow the cubes and mesh bag to dry completely before closing or freezing the bag.
Inspect Your NUGSAX®
Periodically check the cubes, mesh, seams and zipper. Stop using any cube that appears damaged.
Reload and Refreeze
Once everything is clean and dry, return the cubes to the bag and place NUGSAX® back in the freezer.

Cleaning Reusable Ice
Can I wash NUGSAX® with the cubes still inside?
Yes. Apply mild dish soap, gently move the cubes around, rinse thoroughly and allow the complete bag to air dry.
Can I remove the reusable ice cubes?
Yes. The cubes can be removed and washed separately in a colander before being returned to the clean, dry bag.
How often should I clean NUGSAX®?
Clean it whenever it contacts spills, food, dirt, sand or other residue. If it remained clean, a thorough rinse may be sufficient.
Can I put NUGSAX® in the dishwasher?
We recommend hand washing with mild dish soap and clean water.
Should the cubes be thawed before cleaning?
The cubes are easier to clean when thawed enough to move freely.
